Kolari 720nm Infrared Lens Filter

Achieve dramatic B&W or false-color infrared images with white foliage and deep blue/black skies. Perfect for both landscape and portrait photography.

Step into a world of ethereal beauty with the Kolari Vision 720nm Infrared Lens Filter. Designed for dramatic black-and-white and subtle false-color infrared photography. The classic IR filter, the 720nm filter, is great for blue sky false color and provides great contrast and dynamic range for B+W. | With Kolari Vision’s precision engineering and superior optical quality, you can achieve exceptional clarity and detail in every shot. |This filter requires post-processing.

For best results, use this filter with a full-spectrum converted camera, or an infrared camera converted to a lower wavelength, such as the 550, 590, or 665. This filter may also be compatible with some stock cameras with a long exposure.

Uncoated glass, like in our standard IR filters, has a reflection of around 7.7% at all wavelengths (about 4% when the light enters the glass, and another 4% when the light exits the glass). For our Pro Gen 3 IR filters, we developed an IR centered anti-reflective coating that reduced the ~7.7% reflection down to <0.4% on average over the IR band, reducing ghosting and glare while increasing overall transmission from 90% to 98%. We also topped our Gen 3 filters with a hydrophobic anti-smudge scratch resistant coating to increase durability and make cleaning easy.

We understand that post-processing IR images can be challenging at first but don't worry, we have many resources and tutorials available for IR photographers. Here are a few of our most popular IR post-processing resources below:

how-to-find-filter-thread-size
Finding the Right Filter Size for Your Lens
Before placing your order, please double-check your lens’s filter thread size, not your camera model or lens focal length. The correct filter size is usually printed on the front or side of the lens, or underneath the lens cap. Look for a number next to the diameter symbol (ø), such as ø77mm—this is the size of the filter you need. Important: Your lens’s focal length (e.g., 70–200mm) is not the same as the filter thread size.

Frequently Asked Questions

A 720nm infrared lens filter cuts light below 720nm and lets all light above this wavelength pass, creating dramatic black-and-white and subtle false-color infrared images.
The 720nm filter is ideal for landscape, architectural, and fine art, and forensic photography, providing stunning contrast and detail.
Yes, the 720nm filter can be used with full-spectrum cameras or cameras converted to an infrared wavelength under 720nm. It can also be used with stock cameras, but requires long exposures, high ISOs, and a tripod for best results.
The 720nm filter does not cause any significant loss of light when used with a converted camera, allowing you to shoot with normal exposure settings. Unconverted cameras will need to shoot long exposures and use a tripod to produce useable images.
Clean the filter gently with a soft, lint-free cloth and lens cleaning solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials to maintain its optical quality.
