Description

Our Kolari Magnetic Clip-in Filters For RF-Mount (Infrared) are made to work with full-spectrum modified cameras to isolate specific wavelengths or create unique artistic effects. Our infrared filters are designed to either completely block visible light, allowing only near-infrared wavelengths to pass, or blend visible and infrared light for specialized imaging. This makes them ideal for fine art, forensic investigation, and a wide range of professional applications.

Crafted with the professional-grade optics Kolari is known for, these filters are securely fitted into a CNC-machined aluminum magnetic frame designed for maximum lens compatibility. This universal solution fits perfectly with lenses lacking filter threads and can be paired with external lens filters for added filtration effects.

For even more versatility, you can pair these filters with our Kolari EF-EOS R Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter, allowing for three layers of filtration.

Compatibility

Our infrared filters require a full-spectrum converted camera and will not produce the intended effects on stock, unmodified cameras.

Our Infrared Clip-in Filters for Canon RF are compatible with Canon EOS RP, Canon EOS R, Canon EOS R1, Canon EOS R3, Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R6, Canon EOS R6 Mark II, Canon EOS R6 Mark III, Canon EOS R8, Canon EOS R7, Canon EOS R10, Canon EOS R100, and Canon EOS C50.

For proper fit, alignment, and long-term reliability, all Kolari R Clip-In Filters must be used with our magnetic mounting plate on every supported Canon EOS camera.

The magnetic mounting plate is required on all models to ensure secure retention, consistent positioning, and to protect the camera baseplate during installation and removal.

Canon EOS R7 and Canon EOS R10 are compatible with standard, slim, and ultra-slim clip-in filters. Canon EOS R100 is compatible with slim and ultra-slim clip-in filters only. Ultra-slim frames provide the best overall compatibility on APS-C cameras.

Filter stacking is supported using ultra-slim plus ultra-slim or ultra-slim plus slim combinations only. When stacking an ultra-slim and slim filter together, the ultra-slim filter must be installed first.

Canon EOS R50 is not supported at this time.

Some Canon RF and RF-S lenses are not compatible due to rear element clearance, including Canon RF-S 18-150mm, Canon RF-S 10-20mm, Canon RF 28mm f/2.8, and Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8. These lenses are not compatible with standard or slim clip-in filters.

Speed boosters are not supported. The Metabones EF to RF Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x is not compatible with Kolari clip-in filters, and other speed boosters may also be incompatible.

Filter Effect Options

Our IR filters are made to work with full-spectrum modified cameras to target a specific wavelength or artistic effect. These filters either completely block visible light while only letting near-infrared pass or offer a mixture of both visible and near IR light. Useful for fine art, forensics, and many other professional applications.

IR Filter Options:

550nm Infrared - Inspired by false-color IR film, the 550nm can produce deep blue skies and pink foliage. This filter lets in more visible light than the 590nm filter and can be used to emulate aerochrome (but not as easily as our IR Chrome Filter) after a channel swap and a few hue adjustments. The unique colors that can be achieved with this filter are perfect for interesting IR landscapes. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum camera.

590nm Infrared - The 590nm filter can produce vibrant false colors while allowing for flexibility in post-processing. It’s typically used to produce golden-yellow foliage and bright blue skies. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or a lower cutoff IR converted camera.

665nm - The 665nm filter can produce vibrant false colors with good B+W contrast. It’s typically used to produce light yellow leaves or the classic white IR look with blue skies. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or a lower cutoff IR converted camera.

720nm Infrared - The classic IR filter, the 720nm filter is great for blue sky false color and provides great contrast and dynamic range for B+W. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or lower cutoff IR converted camera.

780nm Infrared - The 780nm IR filter creates the classic high contrast B&W IR effect straight out of camera while letting in more light than a traditional 850nm filter. Perfect for B&W IR photography with minimum post-processing, hotspots are also less severe when using this filter. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or lower cutoff IR converted camera.

850nm Infrared - The 850nm IR filter creates the classic high contrast B+W IR effect straight out of camera. This filter is compatible with a full spectrum or lower cutoff IR converted camera. It can also be used with some stock cameras with a long exposure.

IR Chrome Lite - The IR Chrome Lite uses both infrared and visible light to mimic the look of the classic Kodak Aerochrome IR film with little to no editing. This filter is only for use with a full spectrum converted camera. Its thin glass design allows it to work behind the lens and achieves richer color than the original IR Chrome.

Filter Types

Filter Types:

Regular: Our original clip-in filter form factor. This filter allows you to add rear filtration to Canon RF full-frame cameras. In Full Frame cameras, this filter can be stacked on top of our new Ultra-Sim filters when using our Kolari EF-EOS R Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter For Canon RF-Mount, and with RF lenses with flat rear elements.

Slim: Our second iteration of Kolari R Magnetic Clip-In Filter made for Canon RF and RF-S Mounts. The slim filters increase compatibility with RF-S cameras like the R100 and R50 which do not work with the regular style clip in. Can only be stacked on top of an ultra-slim filter in full frame cameras when using our drop in adapter, or RF lenses with flat rear elements. You can not stack two slim filters.

Ultra-Slim: Our latest clip-in filter form factor. This filter type features an ultra-slim frame that allows you to stack another ultra-slim, slim, or regular filter on top to get two layers of rear filtration when using full frame cameras. For example, you can stack a 1/8 mist diffusion filter on top of a 3-Stop ultra-slim filter and take advantage of both effects. When stacking filters, the ultra-slim filter must always be the first filter within the stack, closest to the mount. This filter is highly recommended if you are using RF-S cameras to maximize lens compatibility.

What is your return policy?

If you are unsatisfied with your purchase for any reason, Kolari accepts returns on most products within 60 days of purchase. We can either provide exchanges in the form of store credit, which can be used sitewide, or we can issue full refunds via the method you originally used for payment. To be eligible for a full refund, the product must be in new, mint condition, including all original, undamaged packaging materials and accessories. Items that are damaged, dirty, dented, scratched, or missing major components may be denied for return. Kolari is not responsible for personal data or items left inside of returned merchandise. Prior Approval All returns must be pre-approved by Kolari before items are sent back. To initiate a return or exchange, please send an email to eu@kolarivision.com with your name, order number, and reason for return. Once the return has been approved, you will receive an RMA/packing slip that must be included in the return shipment.
