Ultraviolet Bandpass Clip-in Filter For Canon RF – Magnetic

Our Ultraviolet Clip-in Filter For Canon RF-mount opens the door to true ultraviolet reflective photography on full-spectrum converted Canon mirrorless cameras (see compatibility below). By isolating the ultraviolet spectrum while blocking visible and infrared light, it reveals surface detail and material differences that simply do not appear under normal lighting.

This filter is especially well suited for applications like skin damage analysis, forensic work, astrophotography, and creative UV imaging.

While our original UV Bandpass Filter was built using absorption-based glass, this new version uses a precision interference coating design optimized specifically for ultraviolet imaging. This allows for significantly higher UV transmission, including stronger transmission at lower UV wavelengths where traditional UV filters rapidly lose efficiency. The result is approximately 3× more UV light transmission compared to our original absorption-based design, enabling faster shutter speeds, cleaner results, and improved performance when working in the ultraviolet spectrum.

The filter features a full width at half maximum (FWHM) range of 320–390nm and is centered at 355nm for strong ultraviolet isolation and balanced spectral performance. Its higher peak transmission allows more usable UV light to reach the sensor while maintaining excellent suppression of unwanted visible and infrared wavelengths. Average out-of-band rejection is OD 3 (0.1%) from 420–1200nm, delivering minimal contamination and a clean ultraviolet signal.

Built with the professional-grade optics Kolari is known for, the filter is housed in a CNC-machined aluminum magnetic frame for a secure fit and maximum lens compatibility. It’s ideal for lenses without front filter threads and can be paired with external filters when needed.

Our Ultraviolet filters require a full-spectrum converted camera and will not produce the intended effects on stock, unmodified cameras.

Our Ultraviolet Clip-in Filters for Canon RF are compatible with Canon EOS RP, Canon EOS R, Canon EOS R1, Canon EOS R3, Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R5 Mark II, Canon EOS R6, Canon EOS R6 Mark II, Canon EOS R6 Mark III, Canon EOS R8, Canon EOS R7, Canon EOS R10, Canon EOS R100, and Canon EOS C50.

For proper fit, alignment, and long-term reliability, all Kolari R Clip-In Filters must be used with our magnetic mounting plate on every supported Canon EOS camera.

The magnetic mounting plate is required on all models to ensure secure retention, consistent positioning, and to protect the camera baseplate during installation and removal.

Canon EOS R7 and Canon EOS R10 are compatible with standard, slim, and ultra-slim clip-in filters. Canon EOS R100 is compatible with slim and ultra-slim clip-in filters only. Ultra-slim frames provide the best overall compatibility on APS-C cameras.

Filter stacking is supported using ultra-slim plus ultra-slim or ultra-slim plus slim combinations only. When stacking an ultra-slim and slim filter together, the ultra-slim filter must be installed first.

Canon EOS R50 is not supported at this time.

Some Canon RF and RF-S lenses are not compatible due to rear element clearance, including Canon RF-S 18-150mm, Canon RF-S 10-20mm, Canon RF 28mm f/2.8, and Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8. These lenses are not compatible with standard or slim clip-in filters.

Speed boosters are not supported. The Metabones EF to RF Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x is not compatible with Kolari clip-in filters, and other speed boosters may also be incompatible.

*Color Shift: You may experience a color shift in the left and right portions of your images when using this clip-in filter. The color shift is most prominent at focal ranges 35mm and under. The color shift may also be seen at focal ranges over 35mm, but will start to decrease at the more narrow focal ranges. Post-production techniques can help mitigate color shifting in the final images. Our normal UV Bandpass Lens Filter does not experience this color shift.
