The IRChrome Lens Filter

Recreate the iconic Aerochrome look with vibrant red foliage and deep blue skies.

Image name: Norways Dream House, Author name: Yann Philippe

Our IRChrome Lens Filter brings the legendary look of Kodak Aerochrome IR film to your full-spectrum digital camera, recreating its signature mix of vibrant red foliage, deep blue skies, and soft cyan tones. Made from a precision fused glass composite, it transmits the perfect balance of visible and infrared light so your camera naturally renders the Aerochrome color palette without channel swapping or heavy editing. Developed over more than a year in collaboration with infrared photographer Yann Philippe, this filter was designed to capture the distinctive, dreamlike quality that made Aerochrome so iconic.

You can read the story behind the filter and see more examples of it in action here!

Disclaimer: While this filter is designed to replicate Kodak Aerochrome directly out-of-camera with a full-spectrum camera, all camera models/sensors will have subtle variation and color and results will vary. Sony cameras in particular tend to create images where foliage appears more orange than red. This is easily correctable, and a modest hue adjustment from orange to red in post-processing will create the advertised results.

Frequently Asked Questions

The IRChrome Lens Filter is a unique infrared + visible lens filter that recreates the iconic look of Kodak Aerochrome IR film on a full-spectrum converted digital camera. It renders vivid red foliage, rich blue skies, and natural skin tones straight from the camera.
Yes. The IRChrome Lens Filter is designed for use with two-spectrum and full-spectrum converted cameras that can capture both visible and infrared light. It will not produce the Aerochrome effect on an unconverted camera.
No. The IRChrome Lens Filter is actually highly effective at masking infrared hotspots, even when used with lenses known to perform poorly in IR. This makes it one of the most forgiving infrared filters available for both still and video work.
Expect strong reds in foliage, deep blue skies, and a film-like contrast that mimics Aerochrome’s surreal color profile. Results may vary slightly depending on lighting, white balance, and camera model.
Yes. The IRChrome Lens Filter can be used for both still photography and video to achieve the same signature Aerochrome look in motion.
While the IRChrome Lens Filter produces the Aerochrome look directly in camera, minor adjustments to white balance, contrast, or saturation can be made to fine-tune your images.
